On a beautiful fall day in October, we found ourselves on the golf courses at the Governors Club in Chapel Hill raising awareness and money for the important work that CORA does across Chatham County. This amazing event supports our mission of providing food to children, individuals, and families within our community who are in need during difficult personal economic times. Over 135 golfers registered and spent the day enjoying the nice weather while striving for the best score. The competitive spirit was high as ACC and Big Ten fans participated is chipping, putting, and closest to the pin contests. In the end, the ACC teams prevailed and claimed the winning prize.
Following the golf, guests enjoyed a wonderful dinner, raffle, silent auction, and live auction. Together we raised over $40,000! We are so grateful for our community and their commitment to helping our hungry neighbors access food in an atmosphere of dignity and respect. CORA’s fundraising committee did a great job organizing the event and was assisted by many hardworking volunteers. Many thanks to all who helped make this day a triumph, including the fabulous staff at the Governors Club.
We want to extend a big THANK YOU to Jim Delany who served as the Grand Marshall of this event. In addition, we also want to thank Lowell Hoffman and Udo Koopmann who were the Big Ten and ACC Team Captains.
A special thanks to all of our golf tournament sponsors for making this event possible – especially Drs. Barker and Rohner, House to Home Realty, Town Hall Burger and Beer, Carolina Brewery, Bruce’s Carpet and Flooring, Food Lion, and WCHL. We hope to see you all on the course next year!!
Thanks to all our sponsors for their very generous support!
